How to use TrainingPayback®
Creating an Account
- Access the link to VNU Training Solutions Conference / TrainingPayback® link
- Click on Create an Account link
- Fill in all required fields
- Provide and confirm password
- Provide a website address - this is where you and your reviewers will login
- Click on Sign Up button
Select Topics
How to view/select a Topic relevant to a Goal
- The Topics are already made available
- Click on My Topics link on top navigation bar
- Click on the Topic link to access overview of the event
- Click on Back button of browser or on My Topics
- Tick Topic choices
- Click on Create a Goal for these Topics
Selecting Topics for a Goal
- Click on Goals
- Add a new Goal
- Enter details
- Click on Topics on top navigation bar
- Click on Select/Modify Topics
- Tick Topic choices
- Click Save Topics button
Create Goals /Action Items
How do I start creating my Goals?
- Login to your account
- If you have no Goals visible and wish to start creating then click on link that reads: Click here to add a new Goal
- Fill in the details especially mandatory fields
- Save Goal after making sure information is correct
- Cancel if you are not sure, or changed your mind
Adding an Action Item
- Click on Add Action Item Link
- Enter all details in the required field
- Click on Save Action Item
- Repeat steps to add another Action Item
Posting a Comment
- Access the Goal
- Enter comment in Comments box
- Click on Post Comment button at the bottom of the page
- Check tick box to send email to reviewers
Invite Team/Reviewers
- Click on the Goal
- Go to the top navigation bar and click on the Invite Reviewers link
- Enter all required information
- Click on the Add Reviewer button at the bottom of the page
Update for Outcomes
Update Progress on Goal
- Login to TrainingPayback®
- Click on the Goal link
- Click on the Update Progress link on the top navigation bar
- Scroll down to the section on Progress on Payback and Goals
- Enter updates
- Click on the Update Progress button at the end of the section
Update Progress on Action Items
- Login to TrainingPayback®
- Click on the Goal Link
- Go to the section on Action Item
- Click on a particular Action Item
- Complete Progress on the Action Item (percent completion field)
- Click on Update Progress button
How do I add a Goal or a Topic?
To add a Goal is the initial step a TrainingPayback® participant does when the account has been created. It sets the directions one must pursue, the training investment best suited to meet it and the measurable outcomes.
To Create/ Add a Goal:
- Login to your Account
- If you have no Goals visible then click on the link that reads: Click here to add a new Goal
- Fill in the details of all required fields
- Click on the Save Goal button at the bottom of the page after checking that information is correct
- Click Cancel if you are unsure or have changed your mind

- Click on Goals
- Add a new Goal
- Enter details
- Click on Topics on top navigation bar
- Click on Select/Modify Topics
- Tick Topic choices
- Click Save Topics button
What do I do first: add a Goal or a Topic?
- It is best to start with a Goal so you can choose the appropriate training program that will help achieve successful and measurable training outcomes or payback.
- You can browse through the list of training programs available. This may spur new Goals to consider. Thus you choose the Topics of interest and create Goals relevant to the Topics.
How do I modify or select more Topics?
- To select or modify a Topic involves a similar process. For those who desire to choose Topics for their Goals they must:
- Click on Goals
- Add a new Goal or click on a created Goal
- Then click on the Topics link on the top navigation bar
- Click on the Select/Modify Topics link
- Tick Topic selections
- Click Save Topics button
- Your selected topics will now be reflected
- To modify Topics already shown, return to the Goal and click again on the Select/Modify Topics link. Simply tick on Topics you want to add under the Goal or uncheck those you believe are no longer relevant. Then click on the Save Topics button and view the revisions.

How do I get my manager to approve my attendance to the conference?
It is important to show your leader or manager that Goals have been set and that they can track and monitor on-the-job application of the conference experience. The leader or manager will also have access to your measurable outcomes.
How many Goals or Action Items am I required to submit?
You may have one or more Goals. Under each Goal one may have one or more Action Items. The number of steps to be taken to achieve one's Goal will dictate the Action Items to be entered.
Do I need to invite to review or approve?
It is important to invite your leaders and managers to review and approve your goals because they would be most concerned about assessing the business value of your conference experience. Realizing that there are goals and measurable outcomes relative to the investment in training will make it easier for them to decide positively and track and monitor your progress especially regarding the on-the-job application and measurable results.
What do I do when the calendar does not pop-up the window when I click on the icon?
- It may be your pop blocker.
- Hold CTRL key down while left-clicking on the calendar icon.
- If the calendar still doesn't show, manually enter the date by using the format yyyy-mm-dd for both the start and end dates (with hyphens).
Can I change the password?
Passwords may be changed at will. Click on the Profile link on the top navigation bar. Proceed to change and also reconfirm the new password in the field provided. Click on the Save Changes button.
Can I change my email address (username)?
The email address used to create your existing account can be changed. First, login using your account details. Then click on the Profile link on the top navigation bar. Proceed to change the email address. Click on the Save Changes button.
What do I do when I forget my password?
From the login page, click on the "Forgot Your Password?" link. Enter the e-mail address you used when your account was created. Then, click on the "Forgot Password" link. Instructions on how to reset your password will be sent to your email.
